A total of $170,100 awarded to local organizations
The Waukesha County Community Foundation awarded 31 grants to nonprofit organizations serving Waukesha County during its annual Giving Forward celebration Wednesday. A total of $170,100 in grants was awarded, part of the $1.55 million in funding awarded by the foundation through its competitive grant process through the years.
Held at the Brookfield Conference Center, the event also featured speakers making a difference in Waukesha County, including Mike Lermer, co-founder of the Kai Lermer Memorial Fund; Melissa Songco, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County, and Ken Stowell of the Stowell Family Scholarship Fund.
The Giving Forward breakfast was launched in 2016 to celebrate the nonprofit organizations and philanthropists who work together to create a Waukesha County where all can thrive. The Waukesha County Community Foundation connects donors who care with organizations who make an impact on the quality of life in our neighborhoods.
Foundation president, Melissa Baxter, shared an update on the Foundation, mentioning the impact of endowed funds for the community. “The name of this event perfectly captures the nature of community foundations. Giving Forward. Philanthropy that is focused on today – and on the future.”
