Baus’ recognized at Celebration of Giving

The Waukesha County Community Foundation (WCCF) honored Dr. Gene and Marilyn Baus at their annual Celebration of Giving event on June 27, held at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center in Brookfield, Wis.

The Celebration of Giving Award was established by the WCCF in 2006, to recognize exemplary philanthropists in Waukesha County. In addition, the award raises awareness of the WCCF and the importance of philanthropy in our community.

“We are so pleased to recognize Gene and Marilyn and their generosity which has made such a difference. They are shining examples for all of us,” said Melissa Baxter, WCCF President.

In 2004, the couple established the Eugene and Marilyn Baus Fund, held at the Waukesha County Community Foundation. As Fund Advisors, Gene and Marilyn have distributed more than $65,000 to nonprofit organizations through their fund. The couple has also been incredibly generous with their time volunteering for ERAS Senior Network, Meals on Wheels, Literary Services of Wisconsin, and many more.

The Baus’ accepted the award surrounded by more than one hundred event guests including friends, family, and fellow fund advisors of the Waukesha County Community Foundation.

As award recipients, Gene and Marilyn are granted $500 to designate to the organization of their choosing. During their acceptance speech, Marilyn announced they will direct the gift to the Food Pantry of Waukesha County in memory and honor of Dr. David Helling, a dear friend and early supporter of the Food Pantry.
